Video aspect ratio and resolution calculator

"720p" names the short side. The long side depends on the aspect ratio, which is why a vertical 720p clip is 720 wide, not 1280. Pick a ratio and a tier to get the exact pixels, or enter your own.

Which to pick

16:9 for YouTube and landscape players, 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 1:1 or 4:5 for feed posts. Generate at the ratio you will publish: cropping a 16:9 clip to 9:16 afterwards keeps only about a third of the frame. Many video models such as Wan 3.0 let you pick 480p, 720p or 1080p; draft at the low tier, then re-run the shot you keep at the high one.
